This seminar is organized as part of the research projects Getting to the Core of Crimmigration: Assessing the role of discretion in managing intra-Schengen cross-border mobility (funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO)) and Dealing with Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling in intra-Schengen Border Areas: Enhancing compassion by uncovering the fifty shades of grey (funded by the Dutch National Police).

During this two-day seminar scholars and practitioners working in the various countries that are included in these research projects will come together to discuss some of the challenges that they face in their daily practices or that they have observed in their research. By organizing several thematic round-table sessions topics that will be discussed are intra-Schengen cooperation, mobility management, human smuggling etc. During these sessions we aim to have a meaningful exchange on the topics that connect practioners and scholars but also to reflect upon the gap that tends to exist between scholars and practitioners.

The seminar is not open to the public and during the seminar the Chatham House Rule will apply.
